Produced on the island of Salina, Sicily

Each bottle contains approximately 160 g. of small capers (over 12 mm) from the Aeolian Islands PDO grown in Salina (without the use of chemical fertilizers) and approximately 40 gr. of sea salt.

The Capers Grandi di Salina PDO do not come from a tree, but a simple shrub , and they are not fruits but flowers, that is, buds that are still open. The plant, always green in colour, rather small, grows in the form of a bush, between the cracks in the walls, between the cracks in the rocks and in the barren earth. It doesn't need water, and loves calcareous and dry soils. The original name of the shrub is Capperis spinosa , a plant native to Greece and Asia Minor, typical of the Mediterranean basin.

The homeland of the caper is Italy and in particular the island of Sicily . At the top of the list of the best capers are those from the Aeolian Islands, starting with the Capperi Grandi di Salina DOP , and naturally from Pantelleria.
