Ayunta's sumptuous Sicilian Etna Rosso Doc Navigabile 2017 wine is born from the union of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccino, Alicante Bouchet and Grenache grapes.

After harvesting by hand, fermentation in steel takes place which involves a long maceration on the skins. Subsequently the wine is left to mature in wood for 14 months.

The name "NAVIGABILE" of the Sicilian Etna Rosso Doc Navigabile wine in Italian means “can be sailed” and was historically how local wine merchants, since the 18th century, called their flagship wines.

Navigabile® is obtained according to tradition from Nerello Mascalsese grapes with a small quantity of Nerello Cappuccio.

We ask this wine to sail around the world as an ambassador of our work on Etna.

The name of the wine " Etna Rosso Doc Navigabile " is inspired by ancient maritime traditions and is intended to represent the ability to face long journeys thanks to its robustness and alcohol content: the salient features of this great Etna red.

Nerello Cappuccio was traditionally planted (5% to 20% of the entire vineyard) among the N. Mascalese to bring some softness and a gentle taste to the wine obtained by pressing the different grapes together. “Navigabile”, in those days, had to be a wine capable of traveling across the sea, to the other side of the world, maintaining all its quality and fragrance. An inestimable value for those times, when expeditions were made by sail. After years of research, we realized that this characteristic was linked to some very particular details used in the selection of grapes and in the winemaking process.

At that time only quality and human experience could provide a great wine. We are pleased to present our modern interpretation of those old criteria, capable today of transmitting our same idea of ​​taste and character in the Sicilian Etna Rosso Doc Navigabile wine!
